Lazy Day

Our weather has had a turn for the worst, so we took advantage and had a lazy day at home. Most of our time was spent making a fort in the girls room, then hanging out in there reading books and playing games. We did attempt to spend a little time in the back yard, just to give Emily her fix - she has now gotten into putting on her own boots hat and coat and standing at the front door or back gate repeating "ou-side, ou-side" over and over and over until you give in. But the freezing rain was not my cup of tea - and despite Emily's very vocal objection, we came back inside. Emily's intense desire to return to the outdoors was back after her afternoon nap and reached a peak when Kris got home from work. She was not impressed when Kris opened the downstairs gate to go down and change, when she thought he was opening it to take her outside to play - shall we say Royal Meltdown. She did get to go out for a bit when we took Riley to swimming lessons, but the wind and snow were brutal (yes this is April). Riley is doing FANTASTIC swimming. She is underwater more often than not these days. She even swam forward by herself underwater last night, and jumped in off the side all by herself.
