Busy babes between boughts of bugs.

We have been practicing our reading lately, just finished the Bernstein Bears "B" Book, not bad eh. It has actually has been pretty busy since I last posted, considering the girls have once again been battling a stomach bug and colds. When they have been feeling well, they have been wanting to stay busy. Last Tuesday we were able to make it to the Children's Museum (which is a catch 22 - good place to go, but inevitably 2 days later they get sick). Riley has always like it there, but now Emily is getting more in on the action, even though she is quite tentative about "fake" figures and people dressed up - not unlike Disney world. There favorite spots are still the Dinosaur section, the space centre and the Firetruck. Wednesday, Emily was sick in the morning, but by the afternoon, she was crazy, along with her crazy big sister. They had kicked it into high gear, dressing up, and dancing around the red room. Emily was hilarious, she was using Riley's craft tube (a tube we made to transport her artwork too and from school)as a guitar and was rocking out, taking breaks here and there to stop and put herself upside-down (her new favorite thing). As we all know, Saturday was Valentines Day. Emily woke up in the night sick again, and by noon Riley was on board too. But by 1:00 everyone seemed o.k. Okay enough to have chocolate and cupcakes anyway - probably not the greatest idea, but what are you gonna do. Daddy brought us flowers and yummy cupcakes from the new and adorable "Sweet Cakes" cupcake emporium at the Market. That evening I was treated to an amazing dinner made by my dear husband. We set up a romantic dinner table in the living room for our "date" - Riley really wanted us to go on a date - don't even know how she knows what that is. Kris made an amazing meal- "Poached Pears with Highland Blue Cheese on Bitter Greens", "Veal Scaloppine with Tuscano Cheese and Tomato-Caper Sauce" and "Brandied Cranberry Sour Cream Cheesecake". Sunday Grandma Mary and Papa Rick came for a visit and we had a nice brunch. We actually saved the cheesecake for today because we were too full the night before. Thanks for the visit and all for the goodies!!! And Last but not least Monday - Family Day. A new holiday for Ontaritonians or are we Ontarians, whatever. It used to be known as Heritage Day and only Government employees (ie-myself) had it off, but now a name change and a new holiday coinciding with the American "Presidents Day". Anyway, Riley was sick AGAIN in the morning, but was okay again by noon. So appropriately Kerri and Darren came by to take part in what is meant to be time with your family. It was a quite day, but you know, sometimes that is just what you need. Riley wanted me to post a Valentines Wish that she sang on the big day.
