Emily Turns 2!

A busy weekend this weekend. October is a hot month for birthdays - we all must have thought that the new year was a good time to try to have a baby. Happy Birthay this month to Avery, Athena, Hunter, Emmitt and Olivia - I'm sure there are even more that I am missing. It was definitely a busy weekend. Yesterday, Kris took the girls to Hunter's for a dress up party - I have no pictures to share unless some of my friends pass them along. But today, today was Emily's day. Riley woke up in the wee hours of the morning SOOO EXCITED. I'm talking serious excitement, like bouncing off the walls I've never seen her so excited "because it's EMILY's birthday and she is TWO and her hair is going to turn blond now". (Not sure about that one). The two of them were having there own party this morning, it was hilarious. From bouncing balloons around, to Emily singing herself happy birthday as she drooled over her cupcakes, to inventing games that they would play today, to Riley emphasizing over and over how Emily can do WHATEVER she Wants today. So I'll share some pics from their morning fun first. Then it was on to the Pumpkin Patch, where Emily was practically passing out in the back of the car, from it being her 3rd day in a row without a nap, and from Riley wearing her out already. We were joined by Papa Rick, Grandmas Mary and Heather, Auntie Kerri and Darren, Jeff, Dora, A & A, Mike, Shawna and Hunter. Emily clung to her grandmas and her daddy for pretty much the entire time, looking around taking it all in. Not sure if there was even a peep out of her mouth. But all of the girls had fun, and the mommies and daddies too. There was the annual must do's - face painting, corn maze, hourse drawn wagon ride, and pumpkin picking. I love the Ferguson Farm Fall Festival, and the kids love it too. And even though it looked like Emily was right out to lunch the entire time, when the party was over, she went on and on about the horses and the pumpkins and the ride and popcorn. Too funny. This year we decided to bring the party back to our house for lunch, since it was a bit of a smaller crowd than last year. Chili was simering in the crock pot, much needed when it is chilly outside. Thank goodness the sun was shining down on us. We lost both girls on the ride home, Emily's eyes were closed basically before we even exited the parking lot. We let her have a bit of a nap when we got back while we got lunch together and the older kids played. Tammy, Avery and Kylie were able to join us, so that was great. Emily devoured her beloved hotdog after she awoke, we played a little pin the flower on Tinkerbell, opened presents and had some yummy cake and cupcakes. By the end of the party, Emily finally got into her comfort zone - it always takes a few hours with her. She fell in love with all of her new things, couldn't even put them down for cake!?!? So funny. It really was a great day. Happy Birthday Emily.
