Virtual Outdoor Playgroup

So, my friend Jane came up with a fun idea - a Virtual Outdoor Playgroup. Jane was my bestie when I lived in Scotland as a kid, and through the graces of the Internet we have been able to keep in touch. She now lives in Budapest with her hubby and 2 young daughters and came up with this great motivator to keep active outdoors with our children. Her concept is to, on a weekly basis, participate in a fun outdoor activity and document it online (via facebook) to not only share ideas with other parents in the group, but to give us that extra push to get out the door. Love the idea. So every Tuesday I've rallied up the kiddies and headed outside.
On our first day we decided on an Exploration Adventure Hike!! The girls were suited up with their adventure backpacks filled with bug inspecting tools, nets and a logbook, and with binoculars at hand we headed for the trail. We explored along the path by Thames Park and found many a specimen by overturning logs and rocks and transferring the bugs to our containers.

After our hike, we found a picnic table to document our findings and have a quick snack.

Then the girls let off some steam at the playground, become increasingly brave as they tackled new areas on the equipment.
So cute.

Stay tuned for what we did the next week :)
