Her excitement was barely containable as she found herself getting dressed and ready for her 3:30pm party at 9:30am. Thank goodness she got involved with the cupcake decorating and fashion show planning and was happy to play with Emily and kill some time with her Princess Sing Along DVD. And a couple of hair changes before the big event.
Emily had a fantastic nap and Auntie Kerri and Darren came over shortly after 2pm (thank God) and were able to distract and entertain Riley even further. At 3pm Riley parked herself on the back of the couch staring out the front window waiting for her guests to arrive.
And when they did arrive, they were all grabbed and dragged up to CHEZ RILEY Beauty Salon to be pampered and beautified. First to Wardrobe and the CHEZY RILEY Accessory Wall to pick out a dress, shoes and jewls.
Then it was on to HAIR.
And Make-up.
And Nails.
And Tattoos.
Wow, was Riley sure happy about how she looked post makeover. I love this picture of her so content and beautiful.
As each of her friends were finished with their transformation, Riley rushed them downstairs to give them their dance ribbons and get them prepped for the Fashion Show.
Before the show there was a call for drinks, so we stopped here for a little refreshments and time to cool off with their fans. They all got their pretty little selves situated at the table and we filled their cups and saucers with Pink Lemonade "Tea", fizzy Sprite "creamer" and Pop Rocks Crackling "Sugar". So FUN!!!
The fashion show was Riley's idea. Earlier that day, she wanted to reherse, with me at the microphone announcing her name and prompting a twirl and fun like that. Well I guess the practice run got her jazzed up for the role as M.C. as she took charge of the show and announced her friends names as they came twirling thru the ribbon curtain. At one point there was a lull as her friends down the line got distracted by toys, so they all started chanting EMILY! EMILY! EMILY! It was hilarious, and as Emily burst thru the curtain, Riley dropped the mic. and pounced to her feet to aid in Emily's twirl - such a good big sister.
When all of the guests had walked the runway, we gathered on the dance floor for the "Dance Like a Princess Dance", led by vocals from Belle, who taught to one, two, three Waltz, Ariel who taught us the "swim", Cinderella who had us sweeping with our ribbon wands, Snow White who prompted us to skip all around, Aurora who had us slow dancing to sleep and woken up by Belle to finish again with the waltz, they had so much fun. Emily was just right into the whole thing too, which was hilarious to watch (apparently I was a bit comical to watch too, but well, I can't see myself so oh well).
Having fun yet!!!
After a game of pass the parcel where after every layer of paper removed won the opener yet another pot of flowers to take home, the bellies were a calling. So we settled them all down to a craft - jewelery box decorating - while we prepared the food.
What is a Tea Party without Fancy Refreshments and Tasty treats.
Present opening time, always has me with mixed reviews, because it is so overwhelming as everyone is always so generous. But some of the gift opening reactions and watching each child explain the particular gift they chose for her is often really so priceless.
And the GRAND FINALE - "Happy Birthday To Riley". Blowing out the candles, blowing bubbles and cupcake time!!!
To top off the night, we were treated to a Disney High School Musical SingStar concert from the 5 and ups who can barely read, but still managed to rhyme off all of the words to the karaoke game. So cute, it really was a great Finale. And all the kids got to take home a "Tea"bag loot bag at the end of the day.
Happy Birthday Riley, hope these are memories to look back on fondly. And thank you to all of my friends who helped out, and to all of Riley's very special friends who made it such a wonderful day, especially to our little buddy Landyn who hung in there for us. Love You.
Omg, WOW!! Wanna come to Budapest and help me throw a 'rainbow' party for Clara?? Any suggestions very welcome!!!! (and by the way, we have the same scrapbooking papers - what good taste we've both got!)
